Careers Market Program - How to Get Into The Game Industry

Theme: Find out How to Become a Game Developer

The game industry has become one of the largest entertainment industries in the world. Millions of dollars are spent each year designing and developing video, computer, and game machine adventures, simulations, and mind challenging problems to solve.

Who Should Attend The Careers Market?
This is a free event for 10, 11 and 12 students, TAFE and University students, parents, teachers and career councillors.

10.30am Welcome by Evelyn Richardson, President and CEO, Game Developers’ Association of Australia (GDAA).
The moderator for the Careers Market program is: Ruth Christie, Director, Undergraduate Studies from QUT.
10.35am How I Did It?
Have you dreamt of working in the game industry, in this panel discussion hear the stories of how Darren Williams, Programmer at Pandemic Studios and Ben Droste, Artist, Krome Studios got their break in the game industry.
11.05am Opportunities in the Game Industry
Find out about the different roles, what to look for when choosing a tertiary course and what the alternative ways are to get in to the game industry.

Careers Market displays will include:

  • Krome Studios
The Careers Market Display will allow educational institutions to showcase their courses and recruit students. Game studios can also present their companies, as can IT-focussed recruitment specialists.

The Display will be held separately from the Trade Exhibition and will consist of up to 15 display tables and poster boards. It will be open on Saturday 2nd December 2006 from 10.00am – 2.30pm.
